Well, with my first wedding of the 2012 season just a couple weeks away, I realized it was time to start getting caught up on my blogging! I still have a few amazing couples and weddings I haven’t featured yet!
I had to start with one of my favorite weddings of the season! Located in Hillsdale, WI Andrew and Adele had an intimate and gorgeous wedding at the award winning venue, The Enchanted Barn. Enchanted is really the word for describing this place! I could have spent 4 days there JUST photographing the details! It was gorgeous….like stupid gorgeous….like fairy tale wedding with a gorgeous bride and groom gorgeous. Okay, now that we’ve established that I thought it was a pretty wedding…
I was in love with so many things about this wedding, visual appeal aside. Andrew and Adele themselves, were such a down to earth and fun couple to work with! Adele really went out of her way to make everyone feel adored and welcomed on her special day, which was such a treat! She really appreciated and respected her families history, and it was so cool to see all the heirloom pieces she wore to really pay tribute to the generations. I also fell in love with Andrew’s mother, a mother of 3 boys (which having 2 boys myself – I could really see myself in her shoes). Andrew was her baby, and he was getting married! The emotion she portrayed and the love and admiration this woman had for her boys was so heartwarming, I found myself choked to tears a few times.
Adele was sweet enough to write up a little blurb about her wedding day’s inspiration:
“The inspiration for our wedding was heirlooms, country chic and things that make us smile. We chose the barn because like I said, we love the country and simply couldn’t picture ourselves getting married in a fancy ballroom. I love horses and when we found out that the barn had purchased 2 extra horses to add to their already 2 resident horses, I was thrilled. They are just such a majestic animal and so beautiful. Not many of my family members were able to attend because they are all in Australia, so I had my grandparents’ jewelry and pictures up to remind me of them. We put apple cider, cinnamon and a kazoo in everyone’s goody bags. The guests had to hum a tune on their kazoo with their entire table to get the couple to kiss- this was our twist on the traditional wedding kissing game.
We also had a campfire running at sundown that we roasted marshmallows around and enjoyed each others company.”
